The winter solstice is the day of greatest darkness each year, after which the hours of light will gradually grow, taking us to the rebirth of the natural world in the spring. As the solstice marks this dance of dark and light, so the word “hatha” in “hatha yoga” describes the union of the light, solar side of our energetic body and the darker, lunar aspect. In our winter solstice practice, we will welcome the return of light, honoring the light within each one of us as we ground ourselves in the quiet season of winter darkness. This will be a candlelight yoga class with a focus on movement, breath, sound, and meditation. The class is appropriate for all students.
